The Daughters of the Most Holy Redeemer is an Association of the Congregation of the Sons of the Most Holy Redeemer. Its members strive to live as apostolic hermits entirely given over to the love of Jesus, Our Most Holy Redeemer and to the salvation of souls.

As in conformity with their proper vocation the Sons of the Most Holy Redeemer habitually use the liturgical books in use in 1962, applying the provision of Article 3 of the Motu proprio, Summorum Pontificum, of Pope Benedict XVI, so too do also the Daughters of the Most Holy Redeemer.

The Hermitage of Our Mother of Perpetual Succour - at St Magnus at the end of the pier (temporarily)

IHS

One of the beauties of the hermitage is that it can be wherever the hermit is. So after receiving the Rule and enclosure habit prior to Easter, this hermit has been blessed to up-hermitage and come to Stronsay in Orkney, Scotland, for six months. This will allow for a time of study and spiritual growth and learning more about the eremitical monastic life, by living near to our Brother Monks.

I've been here coming up three weeks and praise God the weather has been lovely, the people are lovely and the solitude and silence is wonderful. This is a truly beautiful northern desert. Thanks be to God for all His many Blessings!

I wish everyone a Holy Octave of Pentecost! Veni Sancte Spiritus!

Of The Rule for the Hermitage and the Cell

+IHS+

The Rule for the Hermitage and the Cell describes the life of the Association of the Daughters of the Most Holy Redeemer. Through obedience to it a unity is gained even through the diversity of situations. The members of the Association live as apostolic hermits in the world. They support themselves or work to gain their livelihood and are able with the guidance of the Rector Major to adapt the Rule for the Hermitage and the Cell to suit their unique circumstances. Thus the Association has a place for all who wish to give themselves to Christ, either old or young, widows or the infirm. Each listening to the call of Christ “Si vis esse perfectus...veni” -If you wish to be perfect......come follow me.

Our rule consists of a brief introduction to the Hermitage as our desert place and the Cell, the image of the soul. Then follow the seven chapters:

Chapter One – of Obedience
Chapter Two – of Prayer
Chapter Three – of Poverty
Chapter Four – of Chastity
Chapter Five – of Solitude and Silence
Chapter Six – of Askesis
Chapter Seven – of Mary and Visitation

Each chapter, after a brief introduction to the topic, is divided into two halves. The first treats of the Hermitage. This gives the spirit of the eremitical community life and lays out the general rules for observance. The second treats of the Cell. It gives personal application to the subject of the rule and provides spiritual guidelines to help in the growth of the soul.
