Daily Expenses
(Food, Clothing, other personal needs)
Petrol and Car Maintenance
This is one of our biggest expenses and we are grateful for the kind assistance of some of our faithful who help us when we get stuck with car issues.
With the rise of petrol costs, we spend NZ$11,000.00 annually on petrol.
Electricity
This fluctuates with the seasons. It costs about NZ$350.00 a month.
Property Rates
Local Government Tax. It costs us about NZ$3,500 annually;
Insurance
We currently own two cars which have been donated to us by the kindness of benefactors.
It costs us about NZ$1,500.00 annually.
General Donations
At times we have unforeseen expenses.
Repayment of the Loan we have from the monks
We owe the monks NZ$440,000.00 We would like to be able to repay them back so that they will be able to expand their apostolate.
Our Wishlist
Generator
Since we live in the country, we do get power outages every so often. We need a backup generator. Mitre 10 have a suitable one here, or the equivalent.
Trailer
With 20 acres of land, having a trailer would be very handy. At the moment, we rely on the kindness of the monks and the faithful to lend us their trailers when we need them.
Woodchipper
To chip trimmed branches. This could potentially be a source of income for our little community.
A Van – at least 10-seater, with a tow bar
Since we are a little community, we rely on a car to transport us to Mass and back. We also offer transport to some of the faithful wishing to attend Mass but are without personal transportation.
Dehumidifier
Moulds are a common problem in Canterbury’s humid winters. Dehumidifiers also help with keeping electricity bills down during the cold winter season.
Building Projects
Our Current Situation and how we dream of the future
Building a Chapel
We would like to build a chapel that can fit future sisters and faithful for Holy Mass and other devotions.
We currently have a small sleepout which could fit about 7 people including the priest and server.
Future Retreat House
We would like to transform the current house into a retreat house for families and individuals who would just need a break and spend time with Our Lord.
The house needs some repairs:
It has a few cracked windows with single insulation, a shower and number of faucets that barely work, and in need of a paint job to keep the wood treated.
The Building of our Monastery
We would like to build a monastery that will enable young women to live a consecrated life. We would like it to extend from the Chapel.
